CVS Caremark
This is not a discounted drug program. The Benefit Trust Fund medical plans include a three-tier prescription drug program with Plans A, A+, B and C administered by CVS Caremark and Plans D and D+ administered by Cigna Pharmacy Network. Most major retail pharmacies participate in both networks.
To fill a prescription at a local pharmacy, simply hand in your prescription and show your prescription drug card. You will be required to pay the applicable co-payment based on the category of drug you receive; generic, preferred or non-preferred.

Cigna
Cigna has a large nationwide network of pharmacies. To locate a network pharmacy, you can check the website noted above, or you can contact the Fund Office for assistance. When you fill your prescription at a network pharmacy, you should present your Cigna Prescription Drug Identification Card to the pharmacist and pay the applicable coinsurance. The pharmacy will submit an electronic claim to Cigna for direct reimbursement of the amount that exceeds your coinsurance. You are not responsible for any paperwork after you make your coinsurance.
If you use a pharmacy that is outside of the Cigna Pharmacy network to have your prescription filled or refilled it will not be covered by the Plan and you will be responsible for the full cost of your prescription.
The Plan limits the amount of a drug you can get at any one time under the prescription drug benefit. You have the following options to obtain your prescription:
-
Home Delivery will provide up to a 90-day supply of covered maintenance medication.
-
Network Retail Pharmacies will provide up to a 30-day supply of any covered medication; and some network pharmacies will provide up to a 90-day supply of covered maintenance medications.
-
Cigna Specialty will provide up to a 30-day supply of specialty medication, or other quantity as appropriate based on dosing, therapy, and handling limitations.
The same coinsurance applies whether the drug is generic or brand name or filled by home delivery or at a network retail pharmacy.
